Defying air-based threats

Air-defence is a key tactical component of modern armed forces. Krauss-Maffei Wegmann is focussing on air-defence systems for the protection of ground forces in all combat operations. These systems have to satisfy a host of requirements: high accuracy at distances of up to 5000 metres, quick reaction times for combating pop-up targets, active self-defence capability, ability to follow troops under protection into the combat zone, use of external reconnaissance systems as well as integration into modern command systems.

GEPARD self-propelled anti-aircraft gun (SPAAG) system:
Over 30 years ago now, KMW developed the GEPARD SPAAG, a technically challenging and all-weather system for countering the threat of low-flying aircraft which, thanks to a continuous modernisation process is still up-to-date today. Combat range, hit probability, reaction time, protection, reliability and ergonomics of the tried and established system have been improved in line with current requirements for anti-aircraft artillery.
