Computer Image Generator (CIG)
MilCIG®, KMW Training & Simulation’s (T&S) computer image generator (CIG), uses the power of Commercial-off-the-Shelf (COTS) graphics boards to improve the quality of visual
simulation to the level of modern computer games. Compatibility is assured through the use of DIS or CIGI communication interfaces, an OpenFlight database loader and XML configuration.
The main features supported by MilCIG® are:
- an unlimited number of dynamic local light sources (headlights, street lamps, fire, battlefield illumination) in addition to the global light source (sun / moon)
- smooth and detailed dynamic shadows, casted and received by every object in the virtual world
- advanced shader technology for convincing surface material rendering, e.g. parallax displacement mapping
- realistic vegetation consisting of 3D trees, bushes, grass and flowers
- simulation integrated environment features, e.g. wind direction and strength affects dust and smoke particles, cloud movement, volumetric fog and smoke, movement of vegetation
- volumetric effect library: fire, (protective) smoke, rain, snow, dust, muzzle flashes and ammunition effects, ...
- dynamic terrain modification: crates, trenches, embankments, track marks, ...
- advanced image sensor simulation including focusing (depth of field), AC coupling, sensor noise, image stacking
- character animation based on motion capturing combined with inverse kinematics
