Instructor Operator Station (IOS) with CGF BatSim

The IOS is a set of software modules for generating and executing advanced simulation needs. It supports a wide range of virtual simulation and is interoperable with military simulation domains. It has all the necessary applications for a single operator to create and control entities for use in realistic training on a virtual battlefield or in urban areas.

The backend of the IOS is BatSim, KMW Training & Simulation (T&S) Computer Generated Forces (CGF/SAF) component, which provides the IOS with intelligent entities on the simulation network. It supports a wide range of entities ranging from fixed/rotary wing air-vehicles, tracked/wheeled ground vehicles to military/civil humans. The incorporated Game Engine keeps it up-to-date participating in the fast development of the serious gaming area.

Other COTS modules within BatSim leverage advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to provide more complex and realistic behaviors within KMW – T&S’s distributed simulation environment.

BatSim takes into account dynamic terrain events into path planning and line-of-sight calculations and reacts accordingly.
Some Items are:

  • Donkey carts, strollers, civilians hide/use weapons, paratroopers
  • Agent-based Autonomous Traffic (traffic sign/lights, right of way).

  • Battlefield support (barbed wire, antitank obstacles, mine lines and areas)
