Maintenance training teaches the soldiers to find and remedy faults and malfunctions on the real vehicle.
For this purpose, KMW Training & Simulation (T&S) designed special training equipment with customized computer-aided fault and malfunction simulation above and beyond classical training,
functional and cross-sectional models, digital training aids and computer-aided training.
These maintenance trainers with fault simulation are used for realistic training of maintenance personnel at ML 2 and 3 in the area of fault detection, troubleshooting and error localization.
The maintenance trainer is designed to correspond to the original in terms of arrangement, operation and function of all assemblies.
The trainer is also provided with a failure input system allowing the simulation of up to 256 errors in the assemblies and wiring.
The failure input system allows for replication of a wide range of situations like system malfunctions or errors, train the trainee to locate and repair the malfunctioning assemblies using
appropriate special tools, test and measuring instruments. Due the flexibility of the fault simulation, it is possible to focus on different aspects of training:
- Performance of functional tests
- Localization of faults
- Use of test and measuring instruments for diagnostic purposes
- Performance of optimizations and calibration tasks
- Replacement of assemblies
- General maintenance and repair tasks.
The open mechanical structure of the training equipment allows the instructor and other trainees an optimum view so that the entire group participates in the training.
