Numerous parades in the city with just as many performers, music, dance and fireworks impress not just the inhabitants and tourists every year, and there is also a considerable amount of media interest. The events that take place on National Day are transmitted live by the state-run television station, of course. Every single seat in the stands was occupied. Following KMW’s successful debut in Asia with the LEOPARD 2 Singapore project, the parade of the battle tanks on the city state’s birthday was undoubtedly one of the highlights this year. The German battle tank is the army’s pride and joy, and few of the city’s inhabitants wanted to miss it.
The ceremonial parade of the mobile column set off on 9th August at 5:25 pm local time. 210 army vehicles rolled past the excited spectators in the Padang district, led by eight LEOPARD 2 battle tanks manufactured by KMW. |
